Educational Resources for teachers

A set of free teaching resources on how the First World War affected soldiers, women, and children in East Sussex.

As part of the East Sussex WW1 project, we have adapted some stories from our website as an inspiration for teaching the First World War in primary and secondary schools.

The stories cover a range of geographical locations within in East Sussex so you can relate the topic to where your students live.

We’ve added additional, contextual information regarding the war and circumstances surrounding it so that you can sculpt your lesson in a direction which is best for your class.

Each individual story is also available for you to download as a beautifully illustrated PDF.
