Roll of Honour

WW1 Roll of Honour – Hastings, St Leonards & Surrounding Area

WW1 Roll of Honour (www.ww1rollofhonour.co.uk) is a photographic record of the men, and some women, from Hastings, St Leonards and the Rother area that served during World War One.

The images and information about these individuals have been extracted from PDF copies of the Hastings and St Leonards Pictorial Advertiser.

The initial aim of the project was to allow people to search for relatives and ancestors and perhaps see pictures of them for the first time. As the project has progressed, and the number of individuals recorded exceed 1,600 (as of August 2016), other interesting information has emerged. This includes the names of 141 different Navy ships and 126 different regiments that people from the area served on and in.

This website is work in progress and I hope that these records and the data from them will provide an interesting picture of how this part of East Sussex contributed towards the war effort.
